Best songs

Post by Dennis324 on Wed Oct 03, 2012 7:22 pm

I was listening to talk radio this afternoon and the subject came up...what are the top 10 best Southern Rock songs of all time? A lot of great songs were mentioned but the callers couldnt agree on the list. So I thought it might be fun to expand this list and name our favorite songs from different styles of music. So....

What are your top 10 Southern Rock songs?
What are your top 10 Classic (70s) rock songs?
What are your top 10 Oldies (60s) rock songs?
What are your top 10 Metal songs?
What are your top 10 hair band songs?
And...
What would be your top 10 soft rock songs?

Have fun!

My top 10 Southern Rock songs would probably be:

1. Free Bird (of course) Lynyrd Skynyrd.
2. Whipping Post (Alman Bros).
3. Boogie No More: Molly Hatchet
4. Champagne Jam: Atlanta Rythm Section
5. Take the Highway : Marshall Tucker Band
6. Midnight Rider: Allman Bros.
7. Copperhead Road: Steve Earle
8. Hold on Loosely: .38 Special
9. Simple Man : Lynyrd Skynyrd
10. Tuesday's Gone: Lynard Skynyrd

Wow, if anything could get me to roll up a joint, this music would. Lol! 'Twas a great era for music. Sorry that I had to leave off so many great songs too. Honorable mention:
Cant ya see: Marshall Tucker Band
Train, Train: Blackfoot
Highway Song: Blackfoot
Dreams I'll never see:Allman Bros (and Molly Hatchet).
If you wanna get to heaven: Ozark Mtn Daredevils
Born on the Bayou : CCR
Champagne jam (Nearly anything) by the Atlanta Rythm Section.
New Orleans Ladies: Louisiana's LeRoux Smile
Ramblin man/ Statesborough Blues / In Memory of Eliz. Reed: Allman Bros.

And, I wish I could put 'Seven Bridges Road" in there, but it was by the Eagles...who were definately NOT a Southern Rock band. (Too bad though). Seven Bridges Road, bty, was actually a song by Steve Young (not the 49er) and was an old old nickname for Woodley Road in Montgomery, Alabama! Smile
